KAY BARNARD SPEAKS OUT AT ROYAL BATH & WEST SHOW HUSTINGS

6.18.02pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 29th May 2009

Liberal Democrat European Parliamentary elections candidate Kay Barnard has taken part in a hustings at the Royal Bath & West Show.

Kay - who is director of a family farm in Somerset - joined the debate, alongside opposition candidates and representatives from the farming and local business community yesterday.

Speaking at the event, Kay said:

"We want to define and limit the powers of the EU. Member states should only act together on legislation where it is going to be more effective than acting alone - on issues like the environment and international crime.

We want to see better law making, and less law making, including a full impact assessment of all proposed legislation for effects on people and businesses."
